we received our fall order from New York designer H. Fredriksson! more beautiful draping and prints make up the collection and are her signature details. i’m in NY seeing the spring 12 collections so i haven’t had time to do my blog posts and new arrivals on the shopping site. all new arrivals will be up on the site next week. in the meantime come by the store to see our fall goodies!
here are my spring picks from steven alan. i love the black and white diamond textile in the dress and suit. the suit would be hard to pull off but the cut and tailoring of the pant and jacket are perfect. there’s nothing like a well fitting blazer. it looks like it’s the same shape as the fall annette blazer that we have in store now. i’m always attracted to the ease of steven’s style and the soft neutral palette with a pop of color and pattern. it’s simple and wearable with a great fit – you can’t go wrong!
we received three new styles from rachel comey’s fall collection. the dalhia candela dress in a bold bright green floral print, and the halstead blouse in a black print with a bright yellow and fuscia flower- both 100% silk and made in manhattan. the bambino coat is in a soft wool tweed that drapes beautifully.
current elliott‘s studio jacket is the best fitted motorcycle jacket for fall! the under jacket is wool and the outer is black denim. i loved pairing it with rachel comey’s decibel dress and mars bootie to add a touch of toughness. it has a great fit and is warm enough for year round wear in san franicsco. it’s made in the u.s.
here are a few of my favorites from rachel comey’s spring collection. i love a few of her dresses but i was surprised to be drawn to so many of her separates this season. the ease of wear in her cropped pants has that menswear touch. add in all the texture and pattern with her spring knits and you have a rich and varied collection, something Rachel has mastered! i’m also drawn to all the pops of orange, blue and green in her prints and pants. her signature prints are a staple in the collection and i’m curious about the bold print on the white dress – is it the ocean? the dress length is long and lean this season which feels fresh and less fussy than a mini. and…don’t forget to check out all the shoes in the show!
come visit us this evening to view work by san francisco artist leigh wells!

i’m heading to NY next week and i have been thinking about what to wear while i’m there. everyday is full of appointments and i usually walk all over town so everything has to be easy and interchangeable but still fun! i only bring one suitcase and i don’t want to fuss or think twice about getting dressed. here are my top picks from conifer’s fall stock. the rachel comey decibel dress is the perfect day dress, simple with a great fit and easy to layer. it might get chilly at night so i’m bringing organic by john patrick’s open cardigan in black and steven alan’s annette blazer to wear in the morning and evening. the uzi tanks and tees are the perfect layering pieces and they add a little print punch since i sometimes veer towards the tonal. the mars bootie will go with everything! both clare vivier bags are the perfect size and shape for traveling and stuffing look books and lines heets in. they definitely make me feel put together! for pants it’s all current elliott – one skinny in dark denim and one stiletto in mouse. last but not least the vena cava clifton dress is my special pop of color and pattern for day and evening. now that i’ve worked out the base of my outfits, i’m getting excited for my trip!
i’m starting previews of spring 12 from conifer’s favorite designers! i head out to NY next week to see the collections and order for the store. organic by john patrick is one of conifer’s favorite lines. he uses organic cotton and most of his production is made in the u.s. his silhouettes are forgiving and flattering and his fabrics are always superior. i’m loving the white dresses and the cropped beige jacket! enjoy
danish designers Bess Neilsen and Jan Machenhauer make the most beautiful luxurious scarves in mind boggling stripes and florals. the way the colors fade into other colors and how the stripes change widths makes these scarves expressive and distinct. the cashmere wool blends are ultra soft to the hand – even the 100% wool ones won’t feel scratchy. these make great gifts or a treat for yourself!
we are excited to have another local designer at conifer! san francisco jewelry and bag designer sarah tejada dropped off my first order of her leather fringe bucket bags, and an assortment of leather and trade bead necklaces. sarah sews all of her leather bags and makes all her jewelry by hand. i love the bohemian details and simplicity of her designs – easy to wear without screaming the 70’s. layer the simple ethiopian trade bead necklace with the leather bolo necklace for the full effect. prices range from $66 for the simple beaded necklaces to $150 for the leather bucket bag.
